The first seeds for Farmhouse Flowers are sown!
It was difficult to decide which flowers and varieties to sow for my first year, as there are so many beauties to choose from. I placed a handful of orders from a few different sources, many of which I have been using to source vegetable seeds from for years. My choices were based on the following:
Flowers that I really love and enjoy growing
Flowers that create beautiful airy sprays
Flowers that provide a big, stunning focal point for the bouquet
Flowers that fill the bouquet with different colour, shape and texture
Flowers that are classics or favourites to many
The act of planting a seed brings me great peace and joy. A seed is like a child... all it needs is a whole lot of patience, nurturing and tending to and from there it will slowly grow and blossom. Soon enough, that tiny seed will be absolutely laden with lush leaves, stunning flowers or nutritious food to feed a family. A seed is a gift. It is life. It provides so much abundance and nourishment to our lives. It creates so much life that it can cycle nutrients and fertility back into the soil from which it came. A simple seed encompasses so much complexity. Whenever I think about how much goodness and greatness it holds, it never ceases to astound me.
